Hi, I'm Kelsey! Let me introduce myself.
I'm a queer music therapist with over 10 years of experience supporting the developmental, educational, and emotional goals of my community members through the power of music. With a special interest in neurodivergence and mental health, I approach all sessions with adaptability in mind and successful interventions that work for each individual. I currently provide weekly music therapy sessions and music lessons to people across the lifespan and identity spectrums.
My favorite instrument is the fiddle. I grew up playing bluegrass, old time, and country music and even pursued a degree in it at East Tennessee State University for a short time. When I discovered my love for psychology and that I could engage with it musically, I transferred to Maryville University outside of St. Louis, MO to study music therapy.
Since graduation in 2014, I have worked with people from many walks of life. First in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, bringing the joy and healing of music to children, adults, and forensic adults with a focus on supporting the rehabilitation and education.
I loved my work, but a combination of disenchantment with the medical field and a series of personal life events excited me to move to Colorado in 2019. I fell into working with children in-home to address educational and developmental needs and eventually started my own practice in the summer of 2021.
With the added freedom to explore, learning about my own AuDHD, continuing to play music, and broadening my horizons, I now provide music therapy and music lessons to an ever-expanding array of humans I'm happy to call my community.
